Man Fakes Robbery To Cover Up Laptop Theft
A night clerk at a northern Kentucky motel is accused of faking a robbery at the motel early Monday.
Boone County sheriff’s deputies said Joshua Napier, the night clerk at the County Inn Suites, reported being robbed at gunpoint by a white man and a black man just after 3 a.m. Monday.
Money and the storage device for the security camera video was taken.
After being interviewed, Napier was arrested and charged with falsely reporting an incident and two counts of theft by unlawful taking over $300.
The sheriff’s office said Napier admitted to taking a customer’s laptop on Sunday night and devised this scheme to destroy the video of him taking the computer.
