OnPoint Laptop Theft

In an ironc twist, I received an email from OnPoint Credit Union today. It seems that a laptop belonging to their auditing firm was stolen on October 29th. The auditors are not able to confirm that their employees had deleted all OnPoint data information from the laptop before it was stolen as per the credit union’s policies.

There was no mention of encryption or other security measures mention in the letter. They stated of course that they do not think the thief is aware of customer data on the device…which infuriates me that they would try to put our mind at ease with such careless speculation.
